Watercolor: What is it?

Watercolor is a much different medium than any other paint, such as oil, acrylic, and gouache. Watercolor is a type of paint that changes pigments based on how little or how much water you put in it; For example, the more water you put in, the less pigmented it will be. A lot of artists like this kind of paint because it is more forgiving than other kinds of paints. Since watercolor uses water, you can pick up the paint on the paper and start over if you mess up, which makes it easier for artists to make mistakes that can be fixed. Watercolor artists would also use watercolor paper because it is much heavier and thicker than most paper, making it easier to layer water on it. As for the types of brushes, it really doesn't matter as long as it is a soft brush because the paints layer better with a softer brush. For watercolor tips, visit this helpful youtube video below!
